Botanist and curator Seraina Rodewald takes the audience on a botanical research journey: from the great outdoors, where new species are discovered, to the Zurich Succulent Collection, which, with its unique diversity, makes plants accessible for research and offers crucial opportunities for comparison. Over the course of the journey, a plant is transformed into a carefully pressed herbarium specimen. The guided tour explains how these pressed cacti and other succulents contribute to research. Visitors gain insight into work processes that are otherwise hidden from view and discover what lies behind the scenes of the world’s most significant collection of succulent plants.
